Vaseretic Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Vaseretic is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It combines an ACE inhibitor with a thiazide diuretic. It works by preventing a chemical in your blood known as angiotensin I from converting into a more potent form that increases salt and water retention in your body.

Vaseretic Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 4 tablets.
  • The safety and effectiveness of Vaseretic in children have not been established.

Side Effects of Vaseretic

Before taken Vaseretic medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Vaseretic. Side effects may include:

  • Cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Impotence
  • Low potassium levels
  • Muscle cramps

Warnings and precautions before taking Vaseretic:

  • If you develop swelling of your face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat; swelling of your arms and legs; or difficulty swallowing, then you should contact your doctor immediately.
  • After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.
  • If you develop chest pain, a sore throat, or fever then you should also contact your doctor immediately. Because it could indicate a more serious illness.
  • If you are taking bee or wasp venom to prevent an allergic reaction to stings, then you may have a severe allergic reaction to Vaseretic. So you should be used this medication with extra caution.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Vaseretic with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Vaseretic with the following:

  • Alcohol
  • Barbiturates such as phenobarbital
  • Certain other antihypertensives
  • Digitalis
  • Insulin
  • Lithium
  • Narcotics
  • Oral antidiabetic drugs such as Micronase
  • Potassium supplements

After taken Vaseretic if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Vaseretic overdose include:

  • Dehydration
  • Low blood pressure
