Sporanox Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Sporanox capsules are used to treat three types of serious fungal infection such as blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, and aspergillosis. Blastomycosis can affect the lungs, bones, and skin. Histoplasmosis can affect the lungs, heart, and blood. Aspergillosis can affect the lungs, kidneys, and other organs. It is also used for onychomycosis, which infects the toenails and fingernails.

Sporanox Dosage

  • For the treatment of Blastomycosis and Histoplasmosis, the usual starting dose is two 100-milligram capsules, taken after a full meal once a day.
  • The safety and effectiveness of Sporanox in children have not been established.

  • It is used to treat three types of serious fungal infection such as blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, and aspergillosis.

Side Effects of Sporanox

Before taken Sporanox medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Sporanox. Side effects may include:

  • Anxiety
  • Bursitis
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Gas
  • Headache
  • Indigestion
  • Muscle pain
  • Nasal and sinus inflammation

Warnings and precautions before taking Sporanox:

  • If you develop such symptoms of liver disease as unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, jaundice, or pale stool, then you should stop taking Sporanox and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have cardiac problems such as congestive heart failure, then you should tell your doctor and you should also avoid to taking this medication.
  • If you have heart problem, then you should be used Sporanox with caution.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Sporanox with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Sporanoxr with the following:

  • Acid-blocking drugs such as Tagamet, Pepcid, and Zantac
  • Blood-thinning drugs such as Coumadin
  • Caffeine-containing agents such as Cafergot
  • Diazepam
  • Eletriptan
  • Indinavir
  • Levacetylmethadol
  • Methylprednisolone
  • Nevirapine
  • Oral diabetes medications such as DiaBeta, Diabinese, Glucotrol, Micronase, Orinase, and Tolinase
  • Phenobarbital
  • Quinidine
  • Ritonavir
  • Sirolimus
  • Tacrolimus
  • Vinblastine

After taken Sporanoxr if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Sporanox overdose is unknown.
