Pravigard PAC Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Pravigard PAC is a combination of two medications such as aspirin and Pravachol (pravastatin sodium). Both Pravachol and aspirin are used to treats heart disease to help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. They are also used to improve the chances of avoiding heart surgery and procedures such as angioplasty.

Pravigard PAC Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 40 milligrams of Pravachol with either 81 milligrams or 325 milligrams of aspirin daily.
  • Pravigard PAC should not be used in children.

  • Pravachol is used to lower cholesterol levels.

Side Effects of Pravigard PAC

  • If you are taking this combination medication, then the aspirin component of Pravigard PAC could raise your risk of developing ulcers or internal bleeding, especially if you have an inherited bleeding disorder such as hemophilia. So you should be used this medication with extra caution.
  • If you have more than 3 alcoholic drinks per day, then you should check with your doctor before using Pravigard PAC. Because this could increase the chance of internal bleeding.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Pravigard PAC with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Pravigard PAC with the following:

  • Colestipol
  • Diltiazem
  • Erythromycin
  • Gemfibrozil
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Mibefradil
