Pediapred Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Pediapred® is a corticosteroid. It is used to treat the swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions and it may also be used to treat severe allergies, skin problems, asthma, arthritis and other conditions.

Pediapred Dosage

  • The usual starting dosage may vary from 5 milliliters to 60 milliliters.

Uses of Pediapred

  • Prednisolone medicine is a man-made corticosteroid used to decrease swelling seen in various medical conditions such as allergic reactions, skin conditions, cancer, blood disorders, or multiple sclerosis.
  • It may also be used to treats other medical conditions those are listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Pediapred

Before taken Pediapred medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Pediapred. Side effects may include:

  • Abnormal loss of bony tissue causing fragile bones
  • Vertigo
  • Abnormal redness of the face
  • Thinning of the skin
  • Backbone break that collapses the spinal column
  • Swelling of the abdomen
  • Cataracts
  • Weight gain
  • Slow wound healing
  • Dizziness

Warnings and precautions before taking Pediapred:

  • You should not used Pediapredmedicine without talking to your doctor, if you have internal fungal infection.
  • If you have liver problems, kidney problems, thyroid disorder, heart problems, stomach/intestinal problems, any infections, then you should tell your doctor.
  • After taken this drug, you may feel some sleepy or fever and other signs of infection, then you should tell your doctor immediately.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Pediapred with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Pediapred with the following:

  • Ketoconazole
  • Phenytoin
  • Cyclosporine
  • Warfarin
  • Estrogens such as Premarin
  • Isoniazid (Nydrazid)
  • Oral contraceptives
  • Amphotericin B

After taken Pediapred if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Pediapred overdose include:

  • Sore or weak muscles.
  • Obesity
  • Increased hair growth
  • Acne
  • Bruising
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Swollen hands
  • Ankles
