Mirapex Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Mirapex treats the symptoms of Parkinson's disease such as muscle rigidity, weakness, tremor, and eventually difficulty with walking and talking. It work by boosting the action of whatever dopamine is available. You can also used this drug with other Parkinson's medications such as Eldepryl, Sinemet, and Larodopa.

Mirapex Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 0.125 milligrams 3 times a day.
  • The safety and effectiveness of Mirapex in children have not been established.

  • It is used to treats the symptoms of Parkinson's disease such as muscle rigidity, weakness and tremor.

Side Effects of Mirapex

Before taken Mirapex medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Mirapex. Side effects may include:

  • Abnormal dreams
  • Chest pain
  • Decreased sensitivity to touch
  • Hallucinations
  • Increased muscle tone
  • Lack of appetite
  • Memory loss
  • Nasal inflammation

Warnings and precautions before taking Mirapex:

  • If you are taking Mirapex, then it may cause your blood pressure to drop, resulting in symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, fainting, and, sometimes, sweating. So you should be used this medication with extra caution.
  • After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.
  • If you have a kidney condition, then you should tell your doctor.
  • Mirapex may cause muscle wasting. If you develop muscle aches or soreness after you start Mirapex, then you should tell your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Mirapex with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Mirapex with the following:

  • Carbidopa/Levodopa
  • Diltiazem
  • Metoclopramide
  • Quinine
  • Ranitidine
  • Triamterene
  • Verapamil

Although there is no information on Mirapex overdose. But after taken Mirapex if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
