Minipress Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Minipress is used to treat high blood pressure. It is effective used alone or with other high blood pressure medications such as diuretics or beta-blocking medications such as Tenormin. It is also used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, an abnormal enlargement of the prostate gland.

Minipress Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 1 milligram, 2 or 3 times per day.
  • Safety and effectiveness of Minipress have not been established in children.

If you are taking Minipress with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Minipress with the following:

  • Beta blockers such as Inderal
  • Diuretics such as Dyazide
  • Ibuprofen
  • Other high blood pressure medications
  • Verapamil

  • Extreme drowsiness
