Gris-PEG Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Gris-PEG is used to treats various ringworm infections such as Athlete's foot, Barber's itch, Ringworm of the groin and thigh, Ringworm of the nails, Ringworm of the scalp. Because Gris-PEG is effective for only certain types of fungal infections.

Gris-PEG Dosage

  • For the treatment of Ringworm of the Body, Groin and Thigh, the usual starting dosage is 375 milligrams a day and you should be taken as a single dose.
  • For the treatment of Athlete's Foot, Ringworm of the Nails, the usual starting dosage is 750 milligrams a day divided into smaller doses.

Uses of Gris-PEG

  • It is used to treats various ringworm infections such as Athlete's foot, ringworm of the groin and thigh, ringworm of the nails, Ringworm of the scalp.

Side Effects of Gris-PEG

Before taken Gris-PEG medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Gris-PEG. Side effects may include:

  • Hives
  • Skin rashes

Warnings and precautions before taking Gris-PEG:

  • You should tell your doctor if you are sensitive to or allergic to penicillin.
  • You should notify your doctor if you develop lupus erythematosus or a lupus-like condition such as arthritis, red butterfly rash over the nose and cheeks, and skin eruptions.
  • If you are taking Gris-PEG, then your doctor should perform regular tests, such as periodic monitoring of kidney function, liver function, and blood cell production.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Gris-PEG with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Gris-PEG with the following:

  • Barbiturates such as phenobarbital
  • Oral contraceptives

After taken Gris-PEG if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Gris-PEG overdose is unknown.
