Estrasorb Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Estrasorb™ topical emulsion contains a natural estrogen female hormone. It is used to treat normal female functions. Because after menopause, the ovaries decrease their production of this hormone. So estradiol is used to relieve symptoms of the menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes.

Estrasorb Dosage

The usual starting dose of this medicine is two lotion-filled pouches and you should be applied one to each leg every morning.

Uses of Estrasorb

  • It is used to reduce hot flashes that may be occur with the "change of life" such as menopause.
  • It may also be used to treat other menopause symptoms such as vaginal dryness and to prevent bone loss in people at high risk.

Side Effects of Estrasorb

Before taken Estrasorb medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Estrasorb. Side effects may include:

  • Abdominal cramps
  • Bloating
  • Hair loss
  • Infection
  • Nnausea and vomiting
  • Sinus inflammation

Warnings and precautions before taking Estrasorb:

  • You should tell your doctor or pharmacist, if you are taking this drug. If you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies.
  • You should consult with your doctor before using this medicine. If you have undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, certain cancers such as breast cancer, especially such as non-metastatic type, then you should also tell your doctor.
  • Before using this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially if you have asthma, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, low thyroid hormone, abnormal calcium level in the blood.

Drug Interaction:- If you are taking Estrasorb with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Estrasorb with the following:

  • Carbamazepine
  • Erythromycin
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Phenobarbital
  • Rifampin

After taken Estrasorb if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of Estrasorb overdose may include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Vaginal bleeding
