Dynacirc Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Dynacirc, a type of medication known as a calcium channel blocker, is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure. It is effective when used alone or with a thiazide-type diuretic to flush excess water from the body.

Dynacirc Dosage

  • If you are takinjg Dynacirc, then the usual starting dose is 2.5 milligrams, 2 times a day, either alone or in combination with a thiazide diuretic drug.
  • If you are taking Dynacirc CR, then the usual starting dose is 5 milligrams once a day, either alone or in combination with a thiazide diuretic.

Uses of Dynacirc

  • Isradipine is used to treat high blood pressure.

Side Effects of Dynacirc

Before taken Dynacirc medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Dynacirc. Side effects may include:

  • Dizziness
  • Fluid retention
  • Headache
  • Pounding heartbeat

Warnings and precautions before taking Dynacirc:

  • You should tell your doctor if you are allergic to isradipine or any other drugs.
  • If you are taking prescription and nonprescription medications especially cimetidine (Tagamet), fentanyl (Duragesic), heart and blood pressure medications such as beta-blockers and diuretics ('water pills'), medications to treat glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), then you should tell your doctor.
  • You should tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart, liver, or kidney disease or a history of gastrointestinal obstruction.
  • You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.

Drug Interaction :-If you are taking Dynacirc with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Dynacirc with the following:

  • Beta-blocking blood pressure drugs such as Tenormin, Inderal, and Lopressor
  • Cimetidine (Tagamet)
  • Rifampin (Rifadin)

After taken Dynacirc if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Dynacirc overdose include

  • Sluggishness
  • Low blood pressure
  • Drowsiness
  • Severe low blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
