Corzide Medication - Uses & Side Effects

CORZIDE® is a combination of two drugs and it is used to lower blood pressure. Nadolol is a beta-blocker and bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide diuretic. Bendroflumethiazide; nadolol is used to control, high blood pressure (hypertension).

Corzide Dosage

  • The usual starting dose is 1 Corzide 40/5 milligram tablet per day.
  • For children, the safety and effectiveness of Corzide have not been established in children.

Side Effects of Corzide

Before taken Corzide medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Corzide. Side effects may include:

  • Asthma-like symptoms
  • Changes in heart rhythm
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Low blood pressure
  • Slow heartbeat

Warnings and precautions before taking Corzide:

  • If you have a history of congestive heart failure, then your doctor will prescribe Corzide with extra caution.
  • If you are taking this drug, then you should not be stopped suddenly. Because it can cause increased chest pain and even a heart attack.
  • If you suffer from asthma, seasonal allergies, emphysema or other bronchial conditions, or kidney or liver disease, then you should be used this drug with extra caution.
  • After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.

Drug Interaction :-If you are taking Corzide with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Corzide with the following:

  • Amphotericin B
  • Barbiturates such as phenobarbital
  • Calcium salt
  • Diazoxide
  • Lithium
  • Methenamine
  • Narcotics such as Percocet
  • Other antihypertensives such as Vasotec
  • Sulfinpyrazone

After taken Corzide if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Corzide overdose include

  • Abdominal irritation
  • Central nervous system depression
  • Extremely slow heartbeat
  • Heart failure
  • Lethargy
  • Low blood pressure
  • Wheezing
