Azelex Medication- Uses & Side Effects

Azelex™, Finacea®, Finevin® is used on the skin to treat mild to moderate acne or rosacea and occasionally other skin conditions.

Azelex Dosage

  • The usual starting dose is a thin film of Azelex applied twice a day.

Uses of Azelex

  • This medication is used for the treatment of mild to moderate acne.
  • It may also be used to treats other medical conditions those are listed in this medication guide.

Side Effects of Azelex

Before taken Azelex medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Azelex. Side effects may include:

  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Stinging
  • Tingling

Warnings and precautions before taking Azelex:

  • Before using this medication, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to it; to propylene glycol or benzoic acid; or if you have any other allergies.
  • If you have asthma, repeat episodes of cold sores or fever blisters, then you should tell your doctor.
  • During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. You should also discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Azelex with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Azelex with other drugs.


An overdose is unlikely. But after taken Azelex if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
