Persantine Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Persantine is used to reduce the formation of blood clots in people who have had heart valve surgery. It is used in combination with blood thinners such as Coumadin. It is also used in combination with other drugs, such as aspirin, to reduce the damage from a heart attack and prevent a recurrence, to treat angina.

Persantine Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 75 milligrams to 100 milligrams, 4 times a day.
  • The safety and effectiveness of Persantine have not been established in children under 12 years of age.

  • It is used to reduce the formation of blood clots in people who have had heart valve surgery.

Side Effects of Persantine

Drug Interaction :-

  • Aspirin
  • Blood thinners such as Coumadin
  • Heart medications such as adenosine
  • Indomethacin
  • Ticlopidine
  • Valproic acid
Overdose

After taken Persantine if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Persantine overdose include:

  • Dizziness
  • Feeling of warmth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Sweating weakness
