Norpace Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Norpace is used to treat severe irregular heartbeat. It relaxes an overactive heart and improves the efficiency of the heart's pumping action.

Norpace Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose range of Norpace and Norpace CR is 400 milligrams to 800 milligrams per day.
  • Dosage in children to age 18 is based on body weight.

Uses of Norpace

  • Norpace is used to treat severe irregular heartbeat.

Side Effects of Norpace

Before taken Norpace medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Norpace. Side effects may include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness
  • Nose
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle weakness

Warnings and precautions before taking Norpace:

  • If you have structural heart disease, inflammation of the heart muscle, or other heart disorders, then you should be used Norpace with extreme caution.
  • If you are taking Norpace, then it may cause congestive heart failure and can cause severe low blood pressure. If you have a history of heart failure, then you should tell your doctor while you are taking Norpace.
  • If you have the eye condition known as glaucoma, or difficulty urinating, then you should be used Norpace with extra caution.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Norpace with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Norpace with the following:

  • Clarithromycin
  • Drugs that inhibit the breakdown of other drugs by the liver, including Tagame
  • Erythromycin
  • Other heart-regulating drugs such as quinidine
  • propranolol, Verapamil
  • Phenytoin
  • Troleandomycin
Overdose

After taken Norpace if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Norpace overdose include:

  • Cessation of breathing
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Worsening of congestive heart failure
