MetroGel Medication - Uses & Side Effects

MetroGel is a preparation of the drug metronidazole and it is used for the treatment of a skin condition known as rosacea such as red eruptions, usually on the face.

MetroGel Dosage

  • You should apply a thin layer to the affected area twice a day.

Side Effects of MetroGel

Before taken MetroGel medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking MetroGel. Side effects may include:

  • Burning or stinging
  • Dryness
  • Itching
  • Metallic taste
  • Nausea
  • Redness
  • Skin irritation

Warnings and precautions before taking MetroGel:

  • If you are using this medication, then it may cause tearing of the eye. So you should avoid contact with the eyes.
  • You should tell your doctor if you have ever had any diseases or abnormalities of the blood.

Drug Interaction :-

Overdose

There is no information on overdose with topical forms of metronidazole. But after taken MetroGel if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.
