Lumigan Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Lumigan is an eye drop that combats high pressure inside the eyeball. It is used for a condition known as open-angle glaucoma. It lowers pressure by promoting drainage of the fluid that fills the eye.

Lumigan Dosage

  • For adults, the usual starting dose is 1 drop in the affected eye or eyes once daily in the evening.

Uses of Lumigan

  • It is used to treat the open-angle glaucoma condition.

Side Effects of Lumigan

Before taken Lumigan medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Lumigan. Side effects may include:

  • Burning eyes
  • Cataract
  • Darkening of eyelashes
  • Excessive hair growth
  • Feeling of a foreign body in the eye
  • Growth of eyelashes
  • Headaches
  • Itchy eyes
  • Red eyelids
  • Swelling of the eyelids
  • Visual disturbances

Warnings and precautions before taking Lumigan:

  • An infection could cause serious damage to the eye. So you should consult with your doctor immediately if you develop any eye reactions, particularly inflamed eyelids.
  • Your doctor will check for the presence of certain eye conditions such as inflammation in the area of the iris and swelling in the back of the eye. So you should be used Lumigan with caution under these circumstances.
  • If you have kidney disease or liver problems, then you should tell your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

There is no information on interactions with other drugs. But if you are taking Lumigan with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Lumigan with other drugs.

Overdose

After taken Lumigan if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Lumigan overdose is unknown.
