Lorabid Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Lorabid is used to treat mild-to-moderate bacterial infections of the lungs, ears, throat, sinuses, skin, urinary tract, and kidneys.

Lorabid Dosage

  • For the treatment of Bronchitis, the usual starting dose is 200 to 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 7 days.
  • For the treatment of Pneumonia, the usual starting dose is 400 milligrams every 12 hours for 14 days.

Uses of Lorabid

  • It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, throat, skin, and kidneys.

Side Effects of Lorabid

Before taken Lorabid medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Lorabid. Side effects may include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Inflamed
  • Runny nose
  • Vomiting

Warnings and precautions before taking Lorabid:

  • If you are taking many antibiotics, then it may cause colitis--an inflammation of the bowel. So you should be used this medication with extra caution.
  • If you develop diarrhea while you are taking Lorabid, then you should notify your doctor.
  • Prolonged use of Lorabid may also result in development of bacteria that do not respond to Lorabid, leading to a second infection.
  • If you have kidney problems, then your doctor will perform blood tests to check your urine and kidney function before and during Lorabid therapy.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Lorabid with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Lorabid with the following:

  • Diuretics such as Lasix and Bumex
  • Probenecid
Overdose

After taken Lorabid if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Lorabid overdose include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Stomach upset
  • Vomiting
