Intal Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Cromolyn sodium is an anti-inflammatory medication. It works by preventing the release substances in the body that may cause inflammation. Croolyn is used to treat some allergic reactions.

Intal Dosage

  • The usual starting dose is 20 milligrams and you should be taken this medicine 4 times daily, if you have chronic asthma.
  • The usual starting dose is 1 spray in each nostril 3 to 4 times daily at regular intervals.

Uses of Intal

  • It is used as a nasal inhaler to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis and as an ophthalmic solution to treat allergic conjunctivitis.
  • It may also be used to treat other medical conditions those are listed in the medication guide.

Side Effects of Intal

Before taken Intal medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Intal. Side effects may include:

  • Cough
  • Nasal congestion or irritation
  • Sneezing
  • Throat irritation
  • Wheezing

Warnings and precautions before taking Intal:

  • You should not stop taking this medicine immediately without talking to your doctor, as your asthma symptoms are likely to return.
  • If you feel that your symptoms do not improve after taking cromolyn within 4 weeks or if your condition becomes worse, then you should consult with your doctor.
  • Your doctor can reduce the dosage or stop to taking medicine If you have liver or kidney problems.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Intal with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Intal with other drugs. So if you are taking other prescription or nonprescription drugs, then you should be discussed with your doctor to determine if these drugs would interact with Intal.

Overdose

After taken Intal if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Intal overdose include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Heart failure
  • Low blood pressure
  • Slow heartbeat
