Inspra Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Inspra is used to treat congestive heart failure. It is also used to treat high blood pressure. You can also used this medicine alone or with other antihypertensive agents. It lowers blood pressure by blocking the actions of the hormone aldosterone.

Inspra Dosage

  • The usual starting dose is 50 milligrams daily.

Uses of Inspra

  • Inspra is used to treat high blood pressure.
  • It may also be used to treat other medical conditions those are listed in the medication guide.

Side Effects of Inspra

Before taken Inspra medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Inspra. Side effects may include:

  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Increased blood potassium level
  • Kidney problems

Warnings and precautions before taking Inspra:

  • If you are taking Inspra, then it may cause potentially dangerous increases of blood potassium levels.
  • You should be used Inspra with extra caution if you have severe liver impairment.
  • After taken this medicine, then you may feel dizzy, or drowsiness. So you should not participate in any activities that require alertness such as driving and operate machinery.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Inspra with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Inspra with the following:

  • Blood pressure drugs known as ACE inhibitors, such as Prinivil and Zestril
  • Cozaar, and Diovan
  • Erythromycin
  • Fluconazole
  • Lithium
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or Advil
  • Potassium supplements including K-Tabs, K-Dur, and Slow-K
  • Saquinavir
  • Verapamil
Overdose

After taken Inspra if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Inspra overdose include:

  • Dizziness
  • Feeling faint or light-headed
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
