Hydrodiuril Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Hydrodiuril® is a diuretic. It increase the amount of urine passed, it causes the body to lose water and salt. It is also used to treat high blood pressure. It also reduces the swelling and water retention that may be caused by various medical conditions, such as heart, liver, or kidney disease.

Hydrodiuril Dosage

  • The usual starting dose is 25 milligrams to 100 milligrams per day.
  • Dosages for children should be adjusted according to weight, generally 0.5 to 1 milligram per pound of body weight in 1 or 2 doses per day.

Uses of Hydrodiuril

  • Hydrodiuril is used to decrease fluid retention that may be occurs with congestive heart failure.
  • It is also used to treat high blood pressure. Because lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

Side Effects of Hydrodiuril

Before taken Hydrodiuril medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor.  If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Hydrodiuril. Side effects may include:

  • Abdominal cramping
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness upon standing up
  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • Excessive thirst
  • Weak or irregular heartbeat
  • Muscle pain or cramps)
  • Stomach irritation
  • Weakness

Warnings and precautions before taking Hydrodiuril:

  • If you are taking Hydrodiuril, your kidney function should be given a complete assessment, and should continue to be monitored.
  • If you have liver disease, diabetes, or lupus erythematosus, then you should tell your doctor and you should be used this medication with extra caution.
  • If you have bronchial asthma or a history of allergies, then it may lead to greater risk for an allergic reaction to Hydrodiuril.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Hydrodiuril with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Hydrodiuril with the following:

  • Barbiturates such as phenobarbital
  • Cholestyramine
  • Colestipol
  • Digoxin (Lanoxin)
  • Lithium (Lithonate)
  • Narcotics such as Percocet
Overdose

After taken Hydrodiuril if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Hydrodiuril overdose include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Excessive thirst
  • Muscle pain or cramps
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Weak or irregular heartbeat
