Dolobid Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Diflunisal is in a class of medications known as NSAIDs. Diflunisal is used to treats pain, tenderness, swelling and stiffness that may be caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Diflunisal is also used to relieve mild to moderate pain from other causes. It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that may causes pain, fever, and inflammation.

Dolobid Dosage

  • For the treatment of Mild to Moderate Pain, the usual starting dose is 1,000 milligrams, followed by 500 milligrams every 8 to 12 hours
  • For the treatment of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, the usual starting dose is 500 to 1,000 milligrams per day in 2 doses of 250 milligrams or 500 milligrams.

Uses of Dolobid

  • This medication is used to treats pain and reduces inflammation. It is commonly used to treat pain, swelling and stiffness that are associated with arthritis.

Side Effects of Dolobid

Before taken Dolobid medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Dolobid. Side effects may include:

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea

Drug Interaction :-If you are taking Dolobid with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Dolobid with the following:

  • Acetaminophen
  • Cyclosporine
  • Methotrexate
  • Oral anticoagulants
  • The diuretic hydrochlorothiazide
Overdose

After taken Dolobid if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Dolobid overdose include

  • Abnormally rapid heartbeat
  • Coma
  • Diarrhea
  • Hyperventilation
  • Nausea
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Stupor
  • Vomiting
