Celexa Medication- Uses & Side Effects

Celexa is an antidepressant in a group of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and that may cause depression.

Celexa Dosage

  • The usual starting dose of Celexa tablets or oral solution is 20 milligrams once a day.
  • For older adults and those who have liver problems, the usual starting dose is 20 milligrams once a day.

Side Effects of Celexa

  • Agitation
  • Diarrhea
  • Ejaculation disorders
  • Fatigue
  • Impotence

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Celexa with certain other drugs, then the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Celexa with the following:

  • Carbamazepine
  • Erythromycin
  • Fluconazole
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Lithium
  • Metoprolol
  • Omeprazole
  • Sumatriptan
  • Warfarin

After taken Celexa if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Celexa overdose include

  • Amnesia
  • Bluish or purplish discoloration of the skin
  • Coma
  • Dizziness
  • Hyperventilation
  • Nausea
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Sweating
  • Tremor
  • Vomiting
